65th anniversary of the landings at Normandy: D-day

Posted by: yourdailyintake on: June 6, 2009

So today is the 65th anniversary of the landings at Normandy. I watched the BBC broadcast today and have great respect for all that have fought and all that have died in WW2. A few years ago I went on vacation to Normandy and saw the more than 9000 white crosses of fallen U.S. soldiers in Colleville-sur-Mer. I must say it was pretty impressive. I also visited the local war museum and Arromanches. I realized that most of my peers do not know what happened at these beaches or just take it for granted that so many people have fought for our freedom. This is why I ask you to stand still by what these brave people, heroes, did for our countries.
